The Parts Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the parts department, ensuring timely and accurate distribution of parts to internal and external customers. This role includes supervising parts staff, managing inventory levels, maintaining vendor relationships, and ensuring customer satisfaction by delivering exceptional service and support.
- Supervise and coordinate activities of parts personnel, including training, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels through accurate forecasting and ordering of automotive parts.
- Ensure efficient parts receiving, stocking, and distribution processes.
- Provide guidance and support to service advisors, technicians, and retail customers regarding part selection and availability.
- Monitor parts sales performance and develop strategies to achieve departmental goals and KPIs.
- Ensure all parts transactions are accurately processed in the inventory management system.
- Handle vendor relations, negotiate pricing, and ensure timely delivery of ordered parts.
- Implement and enforce safety procedures and company policies within the parts department.
- Address and resolve customer complaints or concerns in a professional and timely manner.
- Maintain an organized and clean parts department, ensuring compliance with environmental and safety standards.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or technical degree in automotive technology or business preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in automotive parts operations, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of automotive systems and components.
- Familiarity with parts catalog systems and inventory management software (e.g., Reynolds & Reynolds, CDK, AutoZonePro, etc.).
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Ability to lift and move moderately heavy parts (up to 50 lbs).
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Fast-paced automotive dealership or repair facility environment.
- May involve standing for extended periods and occasional heavy lifting.
- Use of computer systems and interaction with technicians, service writers, and customers.
