Job Summary:
The Service Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the service department. This role ensures that automotive technicians are working efficiently, customer service standards are met, and vehicles are serviced to quality and safety standards. The supervisor acts as a liaison between customers, technicians, and management, ensuring a smooth and productive workflow.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and coordinate the activities of automotive service technicians and support staff.
Monitor repair and maintenance processes to ensure timely and quality service.
Assign work orders to technicians based on skill and availability.
Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and time spent.
Communicate with customers regarding service needs, costs, and timelines.
Resolve customer complaints and concerns in a professional manner.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
Assist with parts ordering and inventory control as needed.
Conduct regular inspections to verify the quality and completeness of work.
Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback to service staff.
Help develop and implement service department goals and initiatives.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (associate or technical degree preferred).
3+ years of experience in automotive repair or service operations.
Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of automotive systems, diagnostics, and repair procedures.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in service management software and basic computer skills.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Work Environment:
Combination of office and shop floor environment.
May require standing for extended periods and lifting heavy equipment.
Typical schedule may include weekends or evenings depending on business needs.
