The Role
The Inventory Manager oversees end-to-end control of vehicle and parts inventory, ensuring record accuracy, secure custody, disciplined receiving and issuing, and audit-ready documentation. The role manages inventory movements from receiving to storage, issuance, and vehicle release readiness, coordinating closely with Sales, Service, Branch Finance, and Central Accounting to support customer delivery and service operations.
What You’ll Do:
- Enforce strong inventory and internal controls, including no-doc/no-release and no-JO/invoice-no-issue policies, with complete audit trails and exception registers.
- Maintain tight vehicle unit control through VIN/chassis/engine verification, location governance (yard, showroom, PDI), status discipline, and release/gate pass controls.
- Oversee parts warehouse operations, ensuring proper binning, labeling, FIFO/FEFO compliance, controlled handling of high-value items, and accurate returns classification.
- Lead inventory counts and variance management, including cycle counts, recounts, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions.
- Prepare and track complete inventory adjustment documentation for approval and posting, ensuring timely closure of variances.
- Monitor inventory health through aging analysis, slow-/non-moving identification, and approved disposition actions (RTV, transfer, markdown, disposal).
- Manage parts availability and replenishment using min/max levels, reorder points, ABC classification, and backorder monitoring.
- Use ERP/DMS and Excel-based tools to process inventory transactions, analyze exception reports, and resolve discrepancies.
- Coordinate closely with Sales, Service, Branch Finance, and Central Accounting to support smooth operations and compliance.
- Lead and coach inventory and warehouse teams on SOPs, accuracy standards, and asset protection.
- Remain hands-on and on-site during peak periods such as month-end cutoffs, mass releases, inventory counts, and audits.
What We Expect From You:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics/Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Accounting, or a related field.
- 4–5 years of experience in dealership inventory, warehouse/parts operations, or inventory control (vehicles and/or parts).
- At least 5 years of managerial experience overseeing inventory processes, teams, or cross-functional coordination.
- Hands-on experience in at least 5 of the following: vehicle receiving and yard control, parts receiving/put-away/binning, inventory transaction posting, controlled issuance governance, cycle or physical counts, variance investigation and adjustments, parts replenishment and backorders, and aging or obsolescence management.
- Experience in an automotive dealership environment (sales, service, or parts) is a strong advantage.
What You’ll Get In Return:
- Collaborate with innovative automotive leaders and diverse teams
- Competitive base salary
- Generous paid time off
- Comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage
- Training, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to grow your career
